1. This reminds me a lot of times when creators refuse to verify if their characters are non-white. I’ve seen people insist that characters with Japanese names, Japanese facial characteristics, and non-white skin are totes white unless the creator says so explicitly. See also Carlos in Night Vale, who had so many fans stanning for him being white that the fandom could be called “White Vale”, and drawing Carlos as Latinx was a great way to get death threats on Tumblr for a while. I don’t know if the creators cleared that up either, I left Night Vale behind after that.
