For Cage’s own sake I hope he’s telling the truth about improving things at QD, but after the stupid shit he’s said in the past(particularly his pathetic whining over used games)he hasn’t really earned the benefit of the doubt, still I can’t swear off his games entirely as he’s not the sole writer on them, plenty of others worked with him on games like Detroit and Beyond. I don’t think Indigo Prophecy was that bad in terms of characters being written, Tyler wasn’t too stereotypical and he was a refreshing change of pace at the time that game came out, as back then damn near every game featuring a black character had them be a gangbanger(25 To Life, 50 Cent Bulletproof, L.A. Rush just to name a few)so he could’ve been a lot worse, but I do agree Cage needs more people working on his games.
P.S. I was expecting Lena from DP2 to be a lot worse after hearing what you said about that game, but honestly after having played through the entire game I found her pretty sympathetic in spite of some of the cringy stuff in her backstory.
